Top 5 Things Your Business Should Be Doing Online in 2017

2017 is almost here. If you haven’t got these things sorted for your business yet, then these top 5 should be on your to-do list come January.

1 - Have a mobile responsive website

Google is penalising websites that aren’t mobile friendly, if you are still rocking that old site you had developed in 2010, it’s time to call a web developer and sort that out pronto before your Google rankings start to slip (if they haven’t already!).

2 - Incorporate a blog on your site

If you have customers, you should be creating content to keep them engaged and coming back. The web is full of free advice, articles, videos, entertainment and more, which is why your company should be out there providing the same. It’s been proven that blogs and articles help bring in inbound sales leads and builds trust with brands and future customers, so get out there and start blogging!

What do we blog about you ask? Simple. Think of anything that a customer would be asking Google before they find your product or service - such as “How do I unclog a drain” posted on a local plumber’s blog, which has a high chance of the user reading it, figuring out that he needs a plumber and just happens to be on his website at the same time!

3 - Incorporate online video into your social and online marketing.

Video has just taken over social media and the rest of the internet, if you don’t believe it, try and scroll more than twice without seeing an auto-play video on Facebook. Companies are finding innovative ways of creating entertaining and interesting videos that help push their brand or products across.

Pro-tip - don’t just produce any old video. Produce something that is helpful/entertaining and just have your brand featured at the end. People hate watching ads, so if you manage to mix your brand into a video where the focus is not on your brand, you have a winning formula.

4 - Get cracking on your SEO

Having good content is one thing, but how they all relate to your website and the relevant keywords are even more important. Look into hiring an SEO company to help clean up your site and help boost your search rankings on Google.

Remember, undertaking SEO is like going to the gym. If you only go once every month and do the bare minimum, you won’t get results in the first six months. Also, if you reach no.1 spot, you need to keep up the work so you don’t lose all of your hard work.

5 - Embrace affiliate marketing

There are an abundance of local and international stars on social media today, with one for almost any discipline. There is a reason why companies sponsor these personalities, because they sell. If you can find the right person, jump on it! Having other people promote your brand is not only more authentic, but more effective.
